The Albany Social Justice Center focuses on building collaborative partnerships with community organizations in the Capital District. Many of our partnerships have lasted for years.
Our Current Partners…

Food not Bombs provides free meals and personal care products to community members

The Albany Free Store is a joint project of several local socialist and anarchist organizations. The aim is to bypass market relationships, and to help serve the needs of community members not served by the capitalist regime. All items are completely free. The focus is on providing clothes, toiletries, and home goods.

Capital District Socialist Party
The Socialist Party stands for the abolition of every form of domination and exploitation, whether based on social class, gender, race/ethnicity, age, education, sexual orientation, or other characteristics.

Alliance of Families for Justice
The mission of the Alliance of Families for Justice is to support, empower, and mobilize families and individuals impacted by the criminal justice system so they can marshal their collective power to create a just world.

The Sanctuary for Independent Media
We use art, science, and participatory action to promote social and environmental justice, and freedom of creative expression.

The IWW is a general union that is open to workers from all industries and companies, rather than just one organization or particular sector. The IWW promotes the creation of “One Big Union” and contends that all workers should be united as a social class to supplant capitalism and wage labor with industrial democracy.

Solidarity Committee of the Capital District
This committee comes together to support workers and establish solidarity.

Voices Of Community Activists & Leaders is a statewide grassroots membership organization that builds power among low-income people affected by HIV/AIDS, the drug war, mass incarceration, and homelessness in order to create healthy and just communities. We accomplish this through community organizing, leadership development, advocacy, direct services, participatory research and direct action.

The General Defense Committee (GDC) is organizing to unite the working class against attacks from the police, bigots, bosses, and landlords.

Peace Action is a national, grassroots organization committed to organizing a powerful peace movement.

The Fines and Fees Justice Center (FFJC) is catalyzing a movement to eliminate the fines and fees that distort justice. Our goal is to create a justice system that treats individuals fairly, ensures public safety and community prosperity, and is funded equitably. We work together with affected communities and justice system stakeholders to eliminate fees in the justice system, ensure that fines are equitably imposed and enforced, and end abusive collection practices.
Our group shares poetry within the local community. We gather each third Thursday of the month at the Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave., Albany, NY at 7:30PM for a poetry open mic with a featured reader – your $5.00 donation (more or less) supports poetry events & the work of the SJC.
